December Market trends are showing softening as both Sellers and Buyers take a pause for the holidays. Closings by Property Type varied quite a bit versus last year with more townhomes and manufactured homes being closed on while Detached homes were down considerably. Last week we saw a little drop in the 30 year rate to 6.19%, bringing December's average more than .5% from a year ago and just below November's average. To sum it up...  Home sales and closings are typically sluggish this time of year, but we are seeing a steeper than normal slowdown.  This trend is carrying in to December where we're seeing Month to Date declines of -25% in new listings and -9% in Closings. Lower mortgage rates are a promising sign for many who intend to finance their purchase, and time will tell if we will see these rates get back below 6% in the near future. Just Reduced!!
