Monday's Main Event Get a jump on your week with the latest in local Real Estate Market trends, Mortgage Rates, and Local Happenings The Main Story... ... Home demand in September - driven by condo's and townhomes closer to the beaches... Last week we saw that Detached homes were down in September by about 2% from a year ago with the overall closings in the county up by 7% compared to last year. Quadrant by quadrant, we can see that the strength is still coming broadly from the areas closer to the beaches and we can extrapolate that within those areas Condo's and Townhomes are driving a significant share of the increase over a year ago. The average 30 year mortgage rate dipped only slightly last week and is maintaining around 6.3% - an improvement over last month and last year. To sum it up...  Demand across the Sussex County in September was more skewed toward Condo's and Townhomes closer to the beaches with average home prices only holding stronger East of Rt 1.   Mortgage rates have continued to come down slowly over the course of the year and there are slight improvements over last year now, but it seems this may not be enough to get buyers off the fence, particularly with Detached homes.
