Monday's Main Event Get a jump on your week with the latest in local Real Estate Market trends, Mortgage Rates, and Local Happenings The Main Story... ... Month to Date, August closings are down considerably to the same time last year while prices hold... After the first 2 weeks of the month, Closings in August are down almost 20% from a year ago while the average home price is up slightly.  The 5 year average home price is up just under 5% showing that home prices are flattening out and becoming much more stable. There was a big drop in the 30 year average fixed rate mortgage last week, dropping almost 10 full basis points. This is encouraging to see and hopeful that Augus will remain on a downward trend that we've seen in past years. To sum it up...  While August sales seem tougher than a year ago, so far, the flattening of the average home price and recent drop in mortgage rates may help turn things around a little more quickly. Congratulations to my Sellers for realizing their dream of moving to the beach full time, and to the lovely Buyers who undoubtedly will take great care of this stunning home for years to come.
