Monday's Main Event Get a jump on your week with the latest in local Real Estate Market trends, Mortgage Rates, and Local Happenings The Main Story... Mortgage rates keep dropping and a Fed Rate reduction anticipated, this may be the best time to buy a new home in the near term. East of Rt. 1 and West of Rt. 113 both saw nice increases in closings and average sold price versus a year ago.  The 2 quadrants in the middle saw declines from a year ago in both units and average price. The national average 30 year mortgage rate was 6.2% last week.  A full 1% point below a year ago, Buyers are seeing stronger buying power for their dollar.  To sum it up...    Home sales still tend to be strong across Sussex County with prices holding fairly steady.
